LIRR cancels 5 rush-hour trains for 4 weeks

NEW YORK (AP) - The LIRR is cancelling five rush-hour trains over the next four weeks as work begins on the Harold Interlocking switching complex in Queens.

During the morning rush, the following Penn Station-bound trains will be canceled: the 6:54 from Central Islip; the 7:55 from Little Neck and the 8:10 from Freeport.

During the evening, the following outbound Penn Station trains will be canceled: the 6:05 due at Wantagh at 6:51; and the 6:33 due at Babylon at 7:35 p.m.

The work begins Monday and will continue through Aug. 16.

Four other trains will operate on shortened runs.
