30 years of Highland Fest in St. Paul

Posted: Updated:

Todd Walker heads to St. Paul for the 30-year anniversary of Highland Fest in the Highland Park neighborhood.

Event organizer Angie says the kids free art project tent was hopping yesterday -- kids can take home their noisemakers and other bedazzled projects, perhaps to their parents' chagrin.

The Strong Man competition will be in full force this year, though the previous winner has agreed to step down and let another able-bodied individual go for the gold.

Also on Sunday, a St. Paul police K-9 unit demonstration will be on display where spectators can see how the German Shepherd police dogs interact with their handlers and the work they do in their community.

Local artists and photographers will again be on display -- artist Torren displays his photos using a local printing company to transfer his work to canvas. His work features photos from overseas as well as recognizable Minnesota landmarks like the Split Rock Lighthouse.
