Chicago's Most Wanted: Western Ave bank robber

Posted: Updated:

The FBI says on June 25th a man walked into the Fifth Third Bank at 7574 North Western Avenue in Chicago, walked up to the bank teller, showed a handgun and demanded cash. The employee handed over the money and the man walked out of the bank.

The man did not make any direct verbal threats, but he did have the weapon out and FBI agents say there was a very subtle but clear threat involved because he told the teller to be "quick and quiet" in giving him the money. The implication was if the bank employee made a wrong move, the robber might use the weapon. Agents believe a Fox 32 News viewer or web user could easily recognize this man. They hope someone will provide information about who he is.

Agents believe this was the man's first bank robbery. What concerns them is the possibility he was willing to use a weapon, which means the next time the situation could easily escalate. That's why they're asking for the public's help identifying the man.

Here is the FBI's description of the robber:

--black male

--55 - 60 years old

--5' 8''- 6' 0''

--medium build

--wears glasses

--had on a black ball cap on that might have been a Blackhawks cap

He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or know who he might be, you're asked to call police or the FBI.
