Dayton: Zimmerman case shows need for limits on deadly force

Posted: Updated:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

After watching the George Zimmerman trial play out, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton says he's now even more opposed to expanded use of deadly force in the state.

Dayton said he thinks Zimmerman "went way beyond what was called for." He also says the case underscored the need for limits when it comes to the legal use of deadly force.

The governor vetoed a bill last year that would have expanded Minnesota's "castle doctrine" to hotel rooms, tents, cars and boats.
