Bachmann: Congress should 'spank' Obama, take 'magic wand'

Posted: Updated:

Even before the news of the arrest of a top aide surfaced on Monday, the day had brought a new bout of online mockery to U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann after video of the congresswoman explaining how to "spank" President Barack Obama and take away his "magic wand" surfaced online.

The outspoken congresswoman often makes headlines with her odd, factually dubious statements, and many websites were quick to highlight the strange warning Bachmann gave while explaining that she believes passing "amnesty" for immigrants would be politically damaging to Republicans.

"It's my prediction that House Republicans could put themselves in a position where they could actually lose the gavel in 2014 because I think the president, even by executive order, can again wave his magic wand before 2014 and he'd say, 'Now, all of the new, legal Americans are going to have voting rights,'" Bachmann said.

Bachmann went on to say that she believes it's possible because "he did it in 2012."

"Do you remember? Anyone who was here as a Latina under age 30, he said, 'You get to vote,'" Bachmann claimed.

That statement appeared to reference the Dream Act, which allowed children of illegal immigrants to stay in the country; however, they were not granted the right to vote in the 2012 election.

Bachmann went on to describe a Democratic sweep of the White House and both chambers of Congress as a result of, saying lawmakers would then change election law and make it "almost impossible to ever see a Republican majority again."

"This is working for the president. It's not working for the American people, but hey, it's great by him. He has a perpetual magic wand and nobody's given him a spanking yet and taken it out of his hand," Bachmann said. "That's what Congress needs to do -- give the president a major wake-up call, and the way we spank the president is: We do it through the checkbook."

Bachmann made her remarks during in an exclusive interview she gave to WND TV, a branch of the conservative website WorldNetDaily, last month. That website posted a series of clips from the interview as part of a story posted on Sunday night.
