Delaware Valley Deals With Heat Wave

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Humid, hazy and hot and so unbearable.

Tom Pimtozzi walked around Haddonfield, New Jersey today with no shirt on.

"It's hot out; trying to get a tan," Pimtozzi tells FOX 29.

The sizzling sun didn't stop some from lying out in the heat.

Others looking to cool off made a splash at the Coco Key Water Park in Mount Laurel.

"It's hot!" says Caleigh Segaline of Philadelphia. "I like the water slide and the lazy river." She's one of the many kids making a splash at the park.

Some came to beat the heat from as far away as Brooklyn, like Shaneequa Miller.

"We just decided to come out here because it's hot," says Shaneequa Miller.

Today is day two of a week-long heat wave, with temperatures above 90 degrees. And it's expected to get even hotter as the week goes on. At the Philadelphia Eagles youth football camp in Wilmington, Delaware this morning, kids worked up a sweat on the field. The heat wave isn't stopping them from having fun.

"We have an alternate location where we can do a lot of stuff inside," says Albert Crosby, the Philadelphia Eagles camp director.

This week, it will feel like temperatures are in the triple digits, and folks are getting prepared for the scorcher.

"I'm ready, I got my refrigerator stocked with some cold beverages, some ice cream and the air conditioning. It's cooling down right now," says Dan Riley of Haddonfield.
