A 50-year-old woman and a dog were killed in a fire at a "bungalow-style" home on the south side of Minneapolis on Friday night, Minneapolis police said.
At 10:18 p.m., Minneapolis fire crews responded to reports of a fire at 4539 Minnehaha Avenue South and found smoke showing from the side of the building. Minneapolis woman Kelly Ann Dugan was found unresponsive inside and removed from the home. CPR attempts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hennepin County medical examiner says Dugan died as a result of smoke inhalation. The manner of Dugan's death is still under investigation.
