Piano fire inside Minneapolis church 1 of 9 arson cases

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Minneapolis police are investigating a series of nine fires as arson, including a piano that was set on fire inside Community Covenant Church on the north side.

Firefighters were called to the church at 11:42 p.m. Thursday night to find heavy smoke showing from the building. When they entered the church, firefighters found a piano on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not extend to other parts of the church

Police are also investigating a string of intentionally-set fires, reported between 12:27 a.m. and 12:57 a.m. Friday morning. The fires were set to trash cans, branches, a fence and a car in the area bounded by 2nd Avenue N. to the south, Thomas Avenue N. to the west, Humboldt Avenue N. to the east and 10th Avenue N. to the north.
