It may be quiet now, but 18 bands will take to the stage at the Basilica Block Party on Friday and there are several big names headlining shows on Saturday as well.
It will be a very busy weekend with thousands of people flocking to downtown to enjoy live music and good eats.
"We're expecting a great turnout, so it should be a great couple of nights," said Mike Klaas, co-chair of the Basilica Block Party.
That festival will span two days, with all proceeds gathered going toward preserving the landmark Basilica and its surrounding campuses, which are considered national, historical landmarks.
Organizers expect 25,000 people to attend the event, which has raised over $4 million in its 19-year history.
Anyone who is looking for a little country music won't have to look far either. On Friday, Kenney Chesney will be playing just six blocks away from the Basilica Block Party at Target Field.
Set-up for that show began on Monday, and fans are expected to travel to the Twin Cities from Iowa, Wisconsin and the Dakotas to get the outdoor amphitheater experience at the sold-out show.
All told, downtown is expected to be bustling with around 60,000 people attending those two events alone. Gates at Target Field open at 4 p.m., and the Basilica Block Party will be open at 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
