Family mourns Duluth mother killed in rollover accident

DULUTH, Ga. -

A Duluth family is mourning the loss of a mother of two who was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 85 on Monday.

Rabia Adnan, 32, was running errands with her husband, Syed Iqbl, and their two young children in the family's SUV on I-85 on Monday afternoon.  Police say a tractor-trailer forced them out of their lane and into a box truck traveling next to them. The impact was so forceful that the SUV flipped several times and went over the guardrail before landing on the on-ramp at Steve Reynolds Boulevard.

"Next thing I know I'm hitting this truck, which was right next to me on the right side and my car started rolling," said Iqbl. "My wife was sitting next to me, my car rolled three times and went on to other side of ramp. I happened to see that I don't have my wife with me. I somehow get up from my car, look at my two children, they are also bleeding, crying, panicking asking questions, ‘Where's mom, where's mom?"

Police say Adnan, who was trained as a doctor, was ejected from the vehicle and died of her injuries. Syed says she was a loving wife and mother and liked taking care of her family.

"Everything in the purse, I was looking at it this morning, her purse from the accident. She had only one item that belonged to her and she had 10 other items that were about my daughter. It was kind of heartbreaking to see," said Iqbl.

Iqbl, Rabia's husband for more than 10 years, says the family is in shock after the accident.

"I'm still in state of disbelief that she may come out of some room or some closet, looking for me but it's not going to happen," Iqbl said.

Gwinnett County police initially said they had located the tractor-trailer driver involved in the accident. However, after interviewing that driver, they are not sure that he was involved.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the wreck to call them.
