Harrison Twp. neighborhood misses work due to storm flooding

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

Flooding at Willow Point, a mobile home community in Harrison Township, is so bad after the recent storms that many residents are still missing work. Their cars are stuck under several inches of water.

Neighbors tell Fox 2's Maurielle Lue they measured the water, and found it 22-inches deep. Resident Paige Fahnstock adds, "If we were to have some sort of emergency, there's no way ambulances can get through here, or I can get my child to the hospital."

But this predicament isn't anything new. Residents say for the past few years, every time the rain comes down - the floods come up.

Off camera, the township supervisor said he was sympathetic to these residents, but there's nothing he can do since the pumps that caused this don't technically belong to the township.

So for now, the residents wait - wait for the water to go down, and wait for someone to take responsibility.
