Possible human remains found on Detroit's east side

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

Workers from Hantz Farms find what appears to be human remains Wednesday morning while cleaning up an area near Lewis St. on the city's east side.

The disturbing discovery happened while crews were clearing away tires, pulling up weeds, and picking up garbage along the land. Workers are clearing the way with plans for a massive tree-planting project.

Police were called immediately after workers spotted what appeared to be a skull.

A spokesperson says it was surprising and sad to find the body, but it won't hinder the commitment to future clean-up projects, like the one crews were working on today.

So far there is no official confirmation that the remains are indeed human.
