A truck with an alleged tire malfunction veered into the wrong lane of Highway 194 near Duluth, Minn., striking and killing the two occupants of a pickup truck on Tuesday afternoon.
A 46-year-old from Floodwood, Minn. and a 29-year-old from Cloquet, Minn. were killed. Their identities will be released on Wednesday, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
According to the Duluth News Tribune, the truck was heading west on Highway 194 near Bergquist Road and veered into the eastbound lane where it hit the pickup head on. The driver of the veering truck was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with serious injuries. His truck was hauling well-drilling equipment and was experiencing tire problems, the State Patrol said.
