NJ woman accused of threatening SCOTUS justices

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

An Irvington, N.J. woman was arrested on Tuesday morning for allegedly mailing threatening letters to the U.S. Supreme Court and people throughout New Jersey.

FBI agents arrested Karen Waller, 50, at her Irvington home.

Federal prosecutors say that Waller mailed letters threatening to injure and kill unspecified individuals.

Waller faces a federal charge of mailing threatening communications.

She was expected to appear to appear in Newark federal court on Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint, Waller mailed more than 50 threatening letters in May and June 2013 to multiple entities and individuals.

The recipients included the town hall in Woodbridge Township, Rutgers University, an insurance company, and the Millburn Township Police Department

The charge carries a maximum potential penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
