A Coon Rapids, Minn. couple was killed in a head-on crash with a pickup truck Monday afternoon while riding a motorcycle near Crosby, Minn.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the motorcycle crossed the centerline and hit the pickup around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 6, north of Crosby, between Mille Lacs Lake and the Brainerd Lakes area.
52-year-old David Dittes was not wearing a helmet, according to the preliminary crash report. His 53-year-old wife, Tammy, was wearing a helmet.
No alcohol was detected at the scene.
The crash follows a deadly July 4 holiday in Minnesota in which three motorcyclists were killed in two crashes. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, 26 riders have died in 2013, compared to 18 motorcycle-related deaths at this time last year.
