Detroit's Eastern Market now open on Tuesdays

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

For the rest of the summer, Detroit's Eastern Market will be open on Tuesdays.

Shed 2 at the historic marketplace will be filled with farmers, flowers, produce and more every Tuesday beginning July 9 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Tuesday Market runs through Oct. 29.

In addition to more than 50 local food vendors, Tuesdays will feature free community exercise classes. Every week in Shed 3 shoppers can participate in early bird yoga at 8 a.m., lunchtime yoga at noon, zumba at 1 p.m., and aerobics classes presented by CoventryCares of Michigan at 2 p.m.

Eastern Market normally operates on Saturdays and attracts thousands of visitors each week. Reps say the Tuesday Market offers more convenience and comfort for visitors looking to avoid the rambunctious weekends.

Shed 2 is located at the corner of Russell St. and Winder St.
