EAST POINT, Ga. -

Authorities have made an arrest in the death of an East Point police officer. The U.S. Marshals and Fulton County Police arrested Danielle Parker on Tuesday for the murder of Cpl. Crystal Parker, according to officials.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office says an autopsy confirmed that Crystal Parker was shot in the head, according to officials.

Danielle Parker was arrested without incident at 415 Fairburn Rd SW, according to U.S. Marshal officials. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance Wednesday morning.

A police source told FOX 5's George Franco that Danielle Parker was previously known as Danielle Alexander. She was the ex-roommate of Crystal Parker, according to Cpl. Kay Lester of the Fulton County Police Department. It's unclear why she changed her last name to Parker.

A family friend of Crystal Parker found her dead at her home last Sunday night. Police believe she had been dead for about three days when her body was discovered.

Her boss says she had been on vacation from work, and her family told FOX 5 that she had gone days without talking to anyone.

Authorities conducted a search late Tuesday at the Fairburn Road apartment where Danielle Parker was arrested.

Parker was a six-year veteran of the East Point Police Department and 2012 Officer of the Year for East Point.

The family did not want to reveal what detectives told them about Crystal's death during a police interview that lasted more than two hours on Tuesday.

"We're in total shock. The whole family," said Joseph Parker, Crystal's father.

Joseph Parker said that the family did not know Danielle Parker very well.

Funeral arrangements for Cpl. Parker have yet to be announced. She was 34 years old.

Danielle Parker was transported to Fulton County Jail will be charged with murder, according to police
