FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KMSP) -

Two Fergus Falls firefighters are recovering after they were injured in the process of fighting an apartment fire that broke out on Sunday night.

The fire was reported just before 10:30 p.m. in the downtown area, but crews were still on the scene Monday morning to address hot spots.

Officials say one firefighter broke his arm and a second had to be treated for heat exhaustion.

The five families who lived in the apartment building were able to escape safely.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but the investigation is ongoing.
