A few morning showers wet portions of west central and northern Minnesota on Saturday morning, and forecasts suggest a mostly quiet afternoon could give way to some strong storms overnight.
A calm cap over the atmosphere should prevent any storms from developing until late on Saturday night, but a slight risk of severe weather is forecasted around the midnight hour.
Although the chances appear slim, the storms that are expected to sweep in late Saturday and early Sunday morning could bring damaging winds.
Thunder and rain are expected to roll in from the east after developing in the Dakotas, but the conditions are not expected to be similar to those that birthed the storms which left large swaths of damage across the metro last month. Rather, most of the slight severe risk should remain west of the metro area overnight.
