SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Miss Piggy is a spunky Pekingese. She is missing, and her owner is determined to get her back.

"I'm not giving up on her because she's been there for me through so much," said Shanna Thomas.

From Tennessee, Thomas and her husband, Brad, said they sent to Sault Ste. Marie for a funeral and stopped in Motown on their way home on Tuesday. That is when a car accident on Greenfield and Eight Mile totaled their vehicle and sent them to the hospital. That was the last time they said they saw Miss Piggy and her puppy.

Miss Piggy's pup is now in safe hands, according to the Detroit firefighters responding to the scene, but Miss Piggy is nowhere to be found. Her collar and tags were removed during the long car ride.

"I'm just hoping that someone will be kind hearted enough to turn Miss Piggy back into us," Thomas said.

She also told us the day of that crash was the one year anniversary of her infant son's death.

Thomas and her husband are not going home to Tennessee until they get Miss Piggy and her pup back and are staying at a local homeless shelter. They are trying to come up with some money to offer a reward.
