Co-workers busted for robbing Chick-fil-a at gunpoint

Posted: Updated:

An off-duty employee robbed the very Chick-fil-a on Eagle Drive where he worked, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Jeremy Huffman, 19, came into the fast-food restaurant just before closing and lingered while the manager on duty finished Thursday night. Cherokee authorities say at some point Huffman pulled out a gun, pointed it at the manager and demanding money from the safe.

The manager says he gave Huffman an undisclosed amount of cash. Huffman then fled the Chick-fil-a on foot.

Once notified of the armed robbery, Cherokee deputies soon tracked down another Jacob Rybak -- who also worked at the Chick-fil-a -- nearby in the woods along Towne Lake Parkway. They determined Rybak was an accomplice in the robbery and arrested him.

Shortly after midnight, deputies found Huffman at a home on Fieldstone Way in the Towne Lake Hills East community. Deputies say they tried to contact Huffman for several hours, without success.

At 6 a.m. Friday, Cherokee County S.W.A.T. entered the home and took Huffman into custody without incident. Cherokee authorities say the cash stolen from Chick-fil-a and gun used in the robbery were found during the arrest.

Huffman is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and obstruction of an officer. He remains at Cherokee County Jail, where he's being held without bond.

Rybak is also charged with armed robbery and is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Jail.
