Dozens of people are recovering this morning after an accident at a July fourth fireworks display northwest of Los Angeles. Instead of being launched into the sky, the fireworks were sent into the nearly 8,000 onlookers gathered to watch the show.
28 people were injured when according to police, a platform built to hold the live fireworks gave way sending them into the crowd. Police and firefighters on scene were able to assist those injured, and a bomb squad de-activated the remainder of the fireworks. The show was stopped a few minutes after the accident, and organizers instructed people to leave.
