Family seeks justice in Sandy Springs hit-and-run

Posted: Updated:
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

A local family is searching for the driver who hit their loved one and left him to die.

Alex Palombini, 22, was struck while driving his motorcycle in Sandy Springs early Sunday. Police say the driver sped off.

Palombini is now hospitalized in a coma.

"I have a 22-year-old nephew in intensive care with possible brain damage. That's just something I can't comprehend," said Robert Puscizna, the victim's uncle.

Puscizna believes that investigators are getting close to finding the driver.

"They are getting close. It's not a question of if, but when they are going to catch the suspect," said Puscizna.

Surveillance footage shows a white Jeep Grand Cherokee leaving the Mosaic Apartments on Roswell Road around 4 a.m.  Police believe a passenger had just been dropped off.

"You can see the gate. You can see the suspect leaving right this location. What happened next, they made a right hand turn, they were going straight towards 285," said Puscizna.

That's when police believe the vehicle struck Palombini and sped off.

Investigators believe the Cherokee is missing its grill and the entire front bumper.

Palombini's uncle told FOX 5 that the 22-year -old emigrated here when he was 9 and was looking forward to getting his green card. Now he just hopes he opens his eyes once more.

"It is absolutely devastating. He is a 22-year-old young boy. Very Healthy. He exercises a lot. And now he's lying in intensive care,' said Puscizna.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run is asked to call police at 770-551-6900. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $2,000 dollars for information leading to an arrest.
