The Water Diet: Quick Weight Loss, Or Health Concern?

Posted: Updated:

Blake Sylvia was severely overweight and suffered with high blood pressure.  He weighed 290 pounds and felt miserable. "It was hard on my ankles, it was hard on my knees. Physically, it was hard. But even the physical pain didn't hold a candle to the mental pain," said Sylvia.

At his heaviest, Sylvia hated to look in the mirror. He'd struggled with his weight all his life. He tried every diet imaginable and nothing worked.  Then, he started drinking water.  A lot of it. Sylvia says, "I noticed that I started feeling better, I started eating a little less food, doing a little exercise and I started noticing I was losing weight."

So far, he's lost 95 pounds. Sylvia drinks 9 glasses of water a day. He came up with what he calls the before, during and after water plan. He says, "Before I sit down to eat, I'll take the first glass of water and I'll take another to the table. After, I'll have the 3rd glass of water and I'm done until the next meal time."

Sylvia says all that water curbs his appetite. However, doctors warn that if you drink too much water it can cause you serious harm. "If you drink too much, too fast, you can dilute your blood dangerously so and really end up hurting yourself and even dying," said Dr. Michael Hirt. He says too much water can also stretch out your stomach. But Sylvia says he's been on this water plan for 6 years. He goes to the doctor regularly and so far, he says his cholesterol has lowered and his overall health has improved.

Sylvia has written a book called "Weight loss is Easy. How I conquered 40 years of obesity." You can find out more about Sylvia and his personal weight struggle by going to his website at: http://www.bdadiet.com
