Do you have a summer soundtrack?

From "Summertime" by Billy Stewart to "Summer Nights" from Grease, some tunes just bring back memories of good weather and great times.

"Hey. I just met you. And this is crazy. But here's my number, so..."

That was so last summer. We've come a long way and survived an avalanche of Carly Rae parody videos since this time last year. And now as we approach our great nation's Independence Day, it's time to emancipate ourselves from 2012's hits and find the next song of the summer.

FOX's Mac King went out and asked people on the streets what their summer song was:

"'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke," says one person.

"'Tonight's a Good Night' by the Black Eyed Peas," says another.

"One Republic has a new song," another person says.

"Well, I think you can pretty much get the idea that it's going to be a two-song race this year," predicts Silvio Pietroluongo.

Pietroluongo serves as Director of Charts at Billboard. He's watched Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" fly up the charts in the last month and find a home at the top.

"I love anything Daft Punk," was a common opinion expressed on the street.

Looking at radio air play, digital downloads, and hits on streaming services, Pietroluongo sees those two songs battling it out for the title of 2013's summer anthem.

"Where we are right now is R&B-retro-soul," says Pietroluongo.

Guys like Governor Chris Christie recall simpler days when we limited genre's to three syllables.

To promote the Jersey Shore's comeback, he compiled his own summer playlist on Spotify, with some surprises (like the Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer") but mostly predictable seasonal jams:

"Jersey Girl" by Bruce Springsteen was on the list. "Summer Wind" by Frank Sinatra was on the list. "Summer of '69" made the list too.

Whatever your summer earworm is, by the end of August, maybe sooner, we'll have one song so catchy that it will forever remind us of the summer of 2013.

Pietroluongo's forecast?

"My prediction for number one will be Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke."

Everybody get up! Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" has been projected as the song of the summer of 2013.
