DEEPHAVEN, Minn. (KMSP) -

Deephaven police have issued an arrest warrant for the owner of a former Minnetonka repair shop in connection with a stack of missing sports equipment reports -- business abruptly shut its doors last summer.

Roseville, Minn. man Michael Metzler, 37, is the former owner of Gear Doctors and is being sought in connection to over $36,000 worth of property reportedly stolen from dozens of customers who had brought their skis, bikes and other sporting equipment in for repair.

When Gear Doctors abruptly closed, a note on the door indicated the business was moving and provided a phone number and email address, the Minnetonka Patch reports. The building's owner was looking for Metzler at the time as rent and utility bills had been left unpaid.

Last July, police located a former Gear Doctors employee who helped Metzler move inventory to a St. Paul location, but the employee said he had not spoken to Metzler since employee paychecks had all bounced a month later.

Anyone with information  on Metzler's whereabouts are asked to contact the Deephaven Police Department at 952-474-7555.
