A Burnsville family is in the midst of grief, heartache and anger after losing a loved one in a suspected drunk driving crash.
The Hennepin County medical examiner confirmed Jeffrey Trondson, 29, was killed as a result of multiple blunt force injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car in Apple Valley on Thursday.
Trondson was killed when Apple Valley woman Leah Marie Colwell, 44, was making a left turn onto northbound Harwell Avenue from eastbound 160th Street and crossed in front of his motorcycle, Apple Valley police said.
"No father should ever find -- ever see their children dead on the street. No father," Dave Williams, Trondson's father, said. "We were like twins. We did everything together. He gets off work, I get off work. We go down by Elko, Prior Lake for rides after work."
Last Thursday evening, father and son were going to polish up their motorcycles together inside the Burnsville garage that they shared. Trondson ran out to wash his blue hog and he never returned.
"He was driving out driveway. He said, 'Pops, I'll be back in 20 minutes.' Never heard from him again. Until I came and saw his body laying here," Williams said.
Police said Trondson died at the scene. Colwell is sitting in Dakota County jail after being arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, driving while impaired, driving with a canceled license and open bottle. Witnesses reported that two friends of hers in the vehicle tried to hide open bottles of alcohol before police arrived.
"She is going to get what she deserves. So help me god," Williams said.
A family member of Colwell told FOX 9 that she has an alcohol problem.
