A group of friends and community activists will be holding its third rally since the May 10 shooting of 22-year-old Terrance Franklin by Minneapolis SWAT team officer Luke Peterson.
Franklin was shot in the back of the head five times and in the back twice while being chased by the police. Police said Franklin attempted to grab their sub machine gun and shot two officers before he was killed.
He was accused of committing a burglary the week before.
His father, Franklin Walter, said he was recently denied a copy of his son's medical examination report. Reports are typically released upon the completion of police investigation. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman has not stated why the request was denied.
An independent investigation is being called for by an agency other than police. Rally members demand for Peterson and other officers involved to be prosecuted and charged with the death of Franklin.
The protest will be held Friday night at 6 p.m. on Broadway and Dupont at the McDonald's parking lot.
