The National Weather Service's Tornado Watch for most of New Jersey has expired.

The Tornado Watch was in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday.

A Tornado Watch means that weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes.

A tornado is a violent rotating column of air that extends from the base of a thunderstorm to the ground, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's definition.

Temperatures are below average for the remainder of the week. The mild weather made an exit in the Tristate region and snow moved in late Tuesday into Wednesday. Scattered showers, heavier rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds made a return.

There's nothing worse than trying to dodge and weave through the rain drops on a rainy day in New York City. But a new umbrella sharing pilot may make getting stuck in the rain a little easier. Who really wants to lug an umbrella around all day? So here's a solution: umbrella sharing.

A lunar eclipse known as a red moon or "blood moon" was visible in the Tristate area on Tuesday.  It started early in the morning and was the first of four such lunar eclipses over the next year and a half. The moon turns red during this type of eclipse because the sunlight is refracted, similar to the way it is bent during a sunset.
