CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A man wanted for murder for nearly a year has been taken into custody at his south suburban home, officials announced Monday.

Cleotha Watson was arrested at his home in the 13900 block of South Edbrooke Avenue in Riverdale at 8:45 p.m. Thursday after police learned he may be there, according to a statement from the Cook County Sheriff's office.

A $1 million arrest warrant was issued for Watson in September 2012 after he was named as a suspect in the shooting death of Preston Strong, according to the sheriff's office. He was considered armed and dangerous.

According to Riverdale police, Watson became involved in an argument with Strong on Aug. 17, 2012, in the 13900 block of South Clark Street.

When Strong tried to walk away, Watson pulled a handgun and shot him several times, the sheriff's office said.

Watson is charged with first-degree murder, the sheriff's office said. He was also ordered held on a $100,000 bond for an unrelated DUI charge.

He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Markham, according to police.
