Some of the wind gusts recorded early Friday morning in central Minnesota:

85 MPH at Benson
73 MPH at Buffalo
65 MPH near Starbuck
64 MPH at Paynesville

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEKEND

The hot and humid conditions set up a chance for severe storms late Friday afternoon into Friday night, Saturday afternoon/evening and again Sunday afternoon/evening.

The high dew points will result in a highly-saturated atmosphere so any rain that occurs could be very heavy with some charts pointing to locally heavy pockets of rain with an additional 3 to 5 inches of rain through the weekend. There will be a possibility of flooding

The timing late Friday afternoon would involve an isolated storm possible in central and southern Minnesota late Friday into the evening but better chances for more widespread storms overnight that develop in the Dakotas and move eastward through our area.

High winds will once again be the main threat with a more isolated large hail and tornado threat.
