Businessman in sex-slave case denies beating, raping wife

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The Wisconsin businessman who is accused of tying up his new wife on their honeymoon, then whipping and beating her, claimed that she requested the restraints and even posed for photographs.

On the witness stand Tuesday, Kevin Anderson repeatedly insisted that his ex-wife Kimberly O'Brien was not a victim of forced sexual torture, but instead, a willing partner in the couple's deviant sexual acts.

As he was shown photos of their honeymoon of his new bride blindfolded, with belt restraints around her breasts and arms, he testified, "I put it on at her request...she asked me to take the picture." Explaining the redness of her buttocks, he told the jury, "There was no whipping....She liked to be spanked."

His attorney asked him, "Had you done this before meeting Miss O'Brien? Any of this stuff?" He answered "no." His attorney believes his story will hold up.

"I think you have to measure the events in line with all of the other evidence, you can't look at it in a vacuum," defense attorney Charles Cole says. "And when looked at with all of the evidence, I think our story is the more credible of the two."

Earlier in the trial, O'Brien had described four occasions where she had been gagged and bound by Anderson, as part of their so-called master-slave relationship. Anderson said it was just this once.

And while he hasn't been allowed to tell the jury that his ex-wife had been a call girl, he did dispute her testimony that their first meeting in Aspen was a random event. He said it was pre-arranged by a third person, as were several subsequent dates with O'Brien.

The defense will wrap up its case Wednesday and closing arguments are expected Thursday morning, with the case going to the jury later that day.
