A charter bus transporting minor league baseball players from the Elizabethton Twins, a Minnesota Twins affiliate, was involved in a fatal crash that killed a wrong-way driver outside of Jacksonville, Fla. on Tuesday morning.
FOX 30 says the bus was carrying about two dozen players traveling north when a car driving the wrong way collided with the bus. Both drivers took corrective action but were unable to avoid contact. No one in the bus was injured.
The Elizabethton Twins were training in Fort Myers and the bus was on its way home for the season opener Thursday night, WINK-TV says. Another bus has picked up the players and the team is on its way to Tennessee.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash occurred on I-295 north of Pritchard Road around 4:25 a.m.
