Firefighters rescued a dog from Gateway Loop Trail after a hiker ran out of water and believed the pet was distressed on Sunday.
Scottsdale Fire Department paramedics and technical rescue team went to the trail after a hiker called to get help for his dog.
Spokesperson Brian Read says the hiker had run out of water and was concerned about their 90 pound dog because he thought it was showing signs of distress.
Crews brought extra water and a big wheel to get the dog down the trail.
The dog appeared to be good condition and the owner was advised to follow-up with a veterinarian.
Read reminds owners to take care of and make preparations when hiking with pets.
