ATLANTA -

Friends of a recent Morehouse College graduate gather on Saturday at the spot where a 23-year-old man was shot and killed just three days earlier.

Joe Gibb sat at his commencement in May listening to President Obama address his graduating class. The speech touched many topics including justice for all and making sure everyone has a voice. None of his friends would have guessed they would be giving Gibbs his voice and seeking justice for their slain friend almost one month later.

Thursday afternoon, police responded to the corner of Parson and Webster streets
after a report of a car crash. They say they found Gibbs shot several time; dead behind the wheel. They say the gunman made a quick escape.

Kurel Ocasio was also injured in the same shooting. He was one of many friends at a vigil Saturday night to remember Gibbs.

"He told me I'd be his little brother for life. He started making music with me. We did everything, and I just miss my brother," said Ocasio.

Like Ocasio and in a common theme among his friends, his roommate Joseph Robinson also remembered the English major like a brother. Life-long friends such as Skye Williams shared stories of the man they knew, who loved writing and basketball.

"I really thank everybody for coming out today because I know they're doing stuff for him back home, but it was really important for us to do something for him here. Because this is where we knew him," Rachel Maye told the gathering.

Morehouse College President John Silvanus Wilson Jr. in a release Friday stated "Under any circumstance, the loss of a young life is difficult to accept. But tragedies such as this demand that more be done to ensure the safety of our students."

It was a sentiment that was echoed by his friends. They prayed that police will find his killer and that justice will be serviced. It is a voice they will speak in unison to make sure they don't let him die in vain.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been targeted. They ask anyone with any information to call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477
