Group calls for an end to the 'mommy wars'

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM -

It used to be the battle of the sexes; man versus woman. But, over the years, a new sort of competition has emerged. This new match pits mom versus mom.

There is plenty of growling amongst mothers when it comes to what to feed your baby. It's just one of the ongoing points of contention in what has become known as the "mommy wars."

In the news and on the blogosphere and even in books, this battle has exploded with moms arguing over what's better for your child.

Just about everything is game, from C-sections to natural birth, breast feeding to formula, from public school education to homeschooling your children and everything in between.

Blogger Michelle Noehren hosts ctworkingmoms.com. She and some other Connecticut mothers are trying to bring a peaceful end to the mommy wars, or, at the very least, a truce.

It's a running joke that if you mention the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center to nearly anyone in Hollywood they're going to know exactly what you're talking about because odds are they might have gotten their first big break there. Would you believe some Hollywood's biggest stars -- Meryl Streep, Michael Douglas, Angela Bassett -- got their start in a big red barn in the middle of nowhere.

The Metro-North Railroad has sacrificed safety for on-time performance, according to a report released Wednesday by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority panel. The report echoes an assessment conducted this year by the Federal Railroad Administration, which investigated after a string of Metro-North accidents including a December 2013 derailment that killed four riders in the Bronx.
