A St. Cloud drug bust seized 44 pounds of marijuana and $58,247 in sales on Tuesday after an eight-month investigation.
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task force said suspect Samlith Khongloth, 32, is expected to be charged with second-degree sales of controlled substances within a school zone as his sales were allegedly located near North Junior High.
Khongloth was initially arrested on probable cause charges and upon arrest was in possession of one pound of marijuana and $6,000.
A search warrant of his parent's house recovered 44 pounds of marijuana and a handgun. Police learned additional drugs and money would be located at his primary residence, and a search yielded additional marijuana and $52,247. A woman police identified as Khongloth's girlfriend was present but claimed to have no knowledge of the drug sales and is not expected to be charged.
