THORNTON, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A northwest Indiana man died on Sunday after being Tasered by authorities in south suburban Thornton, who found him running naked in the street.

Mark A. Koves, 28, of the 9500 block of Roosevelt Street in Crown Point, Ind., died at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights at 5:44 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Thornton police officers responded to a 4:30 p.m. call Sunday of a naked man in the street near the Hubbard Park pavilion and Wolcott School at 200 N. Wolcott St., according to a statement from police.

When officers approached, the naked man "became very erratic and combative" and officers were forced to "subdue" him, the statement said. He was taken to a hospital, according to Thornton police, who did say how the man was subdued.

The medical examiner's office said the man died as a result of police Tasering him. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
