Chicago prepares for the Stanley Cup Finals

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Patrick Kane pulled through when the team needed it most, and now the Blackhawks are ready to paint the town.

Chicago fans reacted with very high spirits. "My wife fell asleep, but she woke up right at the end of the game and it was incredible. It was amazing. Lot of highs and lows. It was pretty cool," an avid Blackhawks fan said. "I've been following the team a long time and it's special to be in the finals."

It was Game 5, double overtime when Kane grabbed the puck and scored for the third time Saturday night.

"It's been really exciting. I haven't ever really watched hockey games so now that I'm watching, I'm like oh, this is awesome to watch."

Another memorable moment that will give you goose-bumps: Kane's winning shot that clinched the western finals. It was just one day short of the shot he scored back in 2010 when the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup.

The city celebrated with a parade because it had been 49 years since Stanley came to town. Fans say they hope history repeats itself.

At Gunzo's Shop on Madison it's all about the Blackhawks. Jerseys, hats and hockey sticks; BLACK and RED are the colors.

New and old fans, even ones jumping on the bandwagon now, want to support the team. "I am jumping on the bandwagon. I jumped on early during the streak that they were having, but now I'm totally on the bandwagon," an alleged Blackhawk ‘bandwagon' fan said.
