MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Gophers head coach Richard Pitino has added his first homegrown forward the roster.

Eastview High School grad Joey King tweeted Sunday that he was excited to be a Gopher basketball scholarship recipient. The team still has one scholarship available to hand out.

@KingJoey_24: Ive accepted a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Minnesota. Could not be more excited to be a gopher. !

The 6-foot-9 forward played one year at Drake, averaging 6.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 19 minutes a game.

King the first big man Pitino has signed as part of his inaugural recruiting class at Minnesota; he'll join guards Malik Smith, Deandre Mathieu and Daquein McNeil.
