Made in Michigan: Kar's Nuts

Kar's Nuts has come a long way since 1933. What started 80 years ago as selling peanuts outside of Tiger Stadium before ball games has grown into much more than anyone could have imagined.

"In the early 90s we really started a path of growth that first took us into the vending category," current president Nick Nicolay says. Local vending turned into national vending, which then lead to the creation Kar's most famous flavor, Sweet and Salty.

A combination of roasted and salted peanuts, sunflower kernels, raisins, and chocolate candies go into making this popular mix.

Many steps go into creating a bag of Sweet and Salty including an extensive roasting and oiling process with salt being applied at the end. After that they are packaged with the right mixture of nuts for the perfect blend and ready to go.
