WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has been arrested after police say they saw fireworks shooting off from his Long Island yard.
Craig Paulich was awaiting arraignment Sunday. A woman who answered the phone at his home declined to comment.
Nassau County police say plainclothes officers saw fireworks erupting from the backyard shortly before midnight Saturday. Police say there also were empty fireworks containers, smoldering from recent use, in the front yard.
Police say Paulich acknowledged setting off the explosives. Detectives say they found commercial-grade as well as consumer-level fireworks inside the garage.
The 43-year-old Paulich has been arrested on charges of illegally storing and possessing explosives.
