A family wants answers after a disturbing incident between a Champlin Park High School teacher and a 14-year-old student.
The above video shows how the teacher twists the Somali student's limbs, puts him in a head lock and presses his face against a desk.
The incident began after a fight between 14-year-old Camaar Abdul-Kadir and the student in the video that was originally captured and uploaded to YouTube.
Camaar's mother told FOX 9 News that her son was bullied by the student, and then assaulted by the teacher, and was acting in self-defense.
The school district, on the other hand, says the teacher was protecting himself and his students. Anoka-Hennepin school district spokeswoman Mary Olson says the teacher's goal was clear: To protect the other students and to protect himself.
Camaar's family identified the teacher as Mr. Joe Hall. Somali community leaders and the student's family plan on holding a press conference at Champlin Park High School on Tuesday to demand an open and independent investigation.
