A California man was struck and killed by a car while walking on a frontage road in Rogers, Minn. on Saturday.
Rogers Police Chief Jeff Beahen said the 45-year-old pedestrian was walking westbound on the shoulder of Rogers Drive, a frontage road off of I-94 near Cabella's, and was instantly killed after being hit Saturday afternoon. Investigators think the California man was heading to a truck stop near the area.
The driver, 21, was heading eastbound on the frontage road when he crossed the center lane. The driver is cooperating with police and says he may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Police did not suspect the driver had been drinking.
Chief Beahen says police will continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
