Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel delivers commencement address at West Point

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel congratulated the cadets at West Point's commencement ceremony Saturday, but warned them they have a tough road ahead.

He praised how far the military has come in terms of diversity but he addressed the many problems service men and women commonly face. Hagel urged the cadets to help put an end to it.

"Alcohol and drug abuse, suicide and mental illness, sexual harassment and sexual assault. You will need to not just deal with these destructive and insidious forces. But rather you must be the generation of leaders that stop it," said Hagel.

Hagel also warned the cadets that they must be ready to fight unpredictable wars with fewer people and less money.
