ATLANTA -

People in a community in Ellenwood say they saw plane parts falling from the sky recently.

Tawon Stokes couldn't believe her eyes Sunday when she found a piece of a wing flap that fell off of an airplane and landed on the side of the road in her Ellenwood community.

"I want to know how or why did it happen? You know, like my daughter said, ‘Houston, there's a problem. That's a big problem,'" said Stokes.

Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the China Airlines cargo plane, a Boeing 747, lost parts from its right wing while on approach. It was flying in from Anchorage and started losing parts 1,000 above the ground.

One of the parts, a flap from the wing, landed on Anvil Block Road. Another part fell on top of a home in Newton Estates. Clayton County police helped pick up the pieces of the plane. No one was hurt.

"We're in a straight path to the airport, so they're constantly flying overhead. At night time, daytime, morning – they're constantly overhead," Stokes said.

The plane landed safely and is now parked in the airport cargo area. Stokes says she's used to all the air traffic, but realizing that one started to fall apart above her neighborhood makes her extremely nervous.

"Me and my children travel up and down this street all the time and just the thought of something falling on us is terrifying," Stokes said.

Other pilots waiting to take off also saw parts falling off the plane. The FAA and the NTSB are now looking into why it happened.
