Philly Police Involved In 2 Different Deadly Shootings

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia police say they were forced to shoot and kill suspects in two different incidents Wednesday night.

One happened around 9 p.m. on the 5500 block of Devon Street in Germantown.

Police are expected to release more details about this shooting later in the morning.

Hours earlier in West Philadelphia, another man was shot and killed when he also allegedly pulled a gun on police.

Officers were called around 6:30 p.m. to Wyalusing Avenue and Frazier Street for a report of two men with guns. When they got there, police say both men tried to run away.

One man was hit by an SUV.

When officers moved in to arrest him, they say, he pointed his gun at them. The officers fired back, killing the man.

That shooting happened as children played on a nearby playground, FOX 29's Iain Page reported from the scene.
