Choosing the right fruit on the glycemic index scale

Posted: Updated:

We all have heard eating your fruits and vegetables are healthy, but when it comes to fruit and weight loss, some are healthier than others.

When you embark on a lower, healthier carb, high-protein diet, fruit can be a gray area. It is suggested that your carbs come from food with low GLYCEMIC INDEX: How fast the food is absorbed and changed into sugar - low is better than high.

Eating food that's low on the glycemic index is better for you, demands less insulin which in turn produces less body fat, causing the insulin you produce to work more effectively in your body. Any food with a score of less than 55 is considered a "low-GI food".

FOX 9 Fitness Expert Ali Holman from CoreCamper.com analyzes fruit and gives her recommendations on the lowest and highest glycemic index contents.
