Shoppers Say Cancer Awareness Hats Got Them Kicked Out Of Mall

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. -

A woman says she got kicked out of a Montgomery County mall for wearing a cancer-awareness hat.

But it's the language, not the message, that got her into trouble.

The shopper posted a photo on Instagram with a caption that said she and her sisters were removed from the King of Prussia Mall for wearing hats with this message on it.

She says they lost their mom to cancer last week.

In a statement to FOX 29, the mall manager expressed his condolences to the women and went on to say: "King of Prussia Mall is a proud supporter of breast cancer awareness and other important causes however, the mall is first and foremost a family destination."

It goes on to say, "In keeping with the mall's code of conduct, security approached the women who were first asked respectfully to remove their caps and when they refused, were asked to leave."

Our FOX 29 Facebook fans are sounding off.

Jodie wrote, "As a cancer survivor, I do not see a word... I see hope and thank them for wearing it."

But Norma disagrees, "As a cancer survivor-- almost four years so far-- I support the thought but not the words. And as a cancer survivor I find it almost disrespectful. Come on girls, you can come up with something more appropriate."
