Four Queen Creek High Schoolers hurt after truck hits canal

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. -

Four Queen Creek High School students were sent to the hospital after crashing their vehicle into a canal near Ocotillo and Greenfield over the weekend.

The teens, all males, apparently didn't realize the road ended at a canal, and the truck flipped and ended up on fire. Gilbert Police received the call just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Two of the victims received life-threatening injuries, and the other two suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. A bystander helped pull the victims from the burning truck.

Three of the teens are seniors. Graduation is this Friday.

Police say that alcohol was likely a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

FOX 10's Andrew Hasbun reports from Queen Creek High School, where messages of support have been erected.
